Trinity Catholic Academy PTO Meeting Minutes
· Mrs. Brouillard announced that tuition will increase by $100 for the 2010/11 school year. Changes to full day pre-school is same as kindergarten rate, 1/2 day preschool will be $1600. If there are 25-26 students for kindergarten keeps everything at status quo. Number of students will determine whether or not we can keep support staff. Budget is very close to bottom line. Teachers will be receiving a 2% raise, if the kindergarten is full. If not full, it may be necessary to let go one or two support staff. TCA is offering next year’s full day preschool attendees the same tuition as kindergarten with the added incentive of free after school program for all days.
Publicity Effort: Stacy Renaud is doing a fantastic job with PR. Plans are in process to do a large publicity push next week. Using money that was donated to fund advertising in the Southbridge Evening News, Friday editions that go to Southbridge, Sturbridge and Charlton. 15,000 flyers will be printed and inserted in the paper.Hoping to be eye catching and will be more in for the open house. Word of mouth is the best way to get new students to TCA.
· A request was made on Mrs. Quigley behalf to the PTO to fund an in school concert by Red Grammer. He offers a “Teaching Peace” program that is in line with this year’s focus on the “Three Cups of Tea”. Cost for the 2- 50 minutes concerts is $1250 and he is available May 28. After much discussion, a vote was taken and it was rejected due to the price. Jocelyn Rodriguez mentioned that she might know someone who does a similar program but for much less money. She will see if the person is available.
· It was suggested that each grade “sponsor” a Fundraising Friday. Where the class (parents) is responsible for the item to be sold. Some ideas are Valentines, Easter and St. Patrick's day items. Dr. Olga Restrepo volunteered to donate items for an upcoming Friday.
· Project A+ is a new program being offered by Tyson Products for fundraising points. Each “label” is worth 24 cents.
· Four Eyes Joke Shop owner, Valerie Pombriant has donated all the stores merchandise and shelving to TCA and St. Mary’s Parish. A committee is needed to organize and inventory the items. All the merchandise can be used either for fundraising, costumes for plays, class projects and the shelves for offices and classrooms. Having a parent committee organize and categorize the stuff will be both useful and also be considered part of teacher appreciation. It was also suggested that the students send thank you notes to Ms. Pombriant for her very generous donation. Scott Peck,Jocelyn Rodriguez,Peter Lamarine volunteered.
